Cinequipt started in 1970 with a single lens.

Bob McGraw, a local film producer, and one of a handful of pioneers in the Minnesota film industry, started renting his equipment when he wasn’t using it. His vision was to nurture industry newcomers. Bob loved having his family working with him in the business. When he passed away in 2000, Cinequipt became a second-generation company. Currently his two daughters, Dawn and Kellie, are at the helm.

In December 2002, Cinequipt purchased a local lighting and grip company, Lighthouse. In November 2006, Cinequipt moved into their existing location, a brand new building that includes a rental studio.

Business has grown from film equipment rentals only to include film, video, lighting & grip, and studio rentals as well as the sales of video, lighting, production equipment and supplies and is expanding daily. We’re also proud to be one of only a few Panasonic Production Specialty Resellers in the country.

Over the past 35+ years, Cinequipt has helped foster the careers of many prominent producers and directors, helping put the Minnesota film industry on the map.
