Dan Winter Family Benefit

There was a benefit held at the Fine Line Music Café on November 20th, 2008, for the family of Dan Winter. Dan passed away unexpectedly from arteriosclerotic heart disease at the age of 48. He leaves behind his wife, Laura and nine-year old daughter, Andrea. The benefit was held to help support his family and set up a savings plan for Andrea’s education.

Dan worked in the music industry for many years doing sound for the Phones, along with many other local bands. He was involved in the film and commercial production industry for twenty-some years, most recently working on the post-production side for CRASH+SUES as their engineer.

Michael is a multi-hyphenate Writer-Producer-Director-DP-DIT- Editor and 30 year industry veteran who has weathered the many ups and downs of production while embracing the new technologies that are redefining our business. He is also a former instructor for HD Expo's VariCamps.

Michael's experiences as a production & post- production facility owner help to bridge both worlds in his explanation of the new technologies.

In this seminar, we'll discuss the current state of production and post-production digital workflows with P2, including the new AVC-Intra HD recording codec. We'll also cover the AJ-HPX3000 & the next generation P2 VariCams, the AJ-HPX2700 & AJ-HPX3700.

Ken Carlson passed away Sunday October 5, 2008. Ken worked at Cinequipt for 20 years and was highly respected in the Minnesota film community. His funeral was Friday October 10, 2008 at Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis. A link is to his obituary is provided.

Hal is an emmy-nominated director and cinematographer. Among his commercial clients are a Subaru, General Motors, Gibson Music and the American Lung Association. His commercial work has won numerous international awards and he has shot TV shows for networks such as Bravo, ESPN, MTV and VH1.

Hal is an expert user in Final Cut Studio and is a specialist in HD workflow with specific expertise in Panasonic's P2 product line. He is also a partner in Call Box Live, a company focused on producing training DVD's focused on HD workflow, production and post-production techniques.

Hal has a bachelor's degree from Duke University and a Masters from the USC School of Cinema- Television.
